To add my own take on the "ins" for dancing-- a big IN on clubs and lounges opening from 5-9 for the more seasoned folks to get their 80's dancing on and be in bed before 10. The BEST!

I also agree re: calls instead of texts. Texts feel like work lately.

"True Grit" for a classic re-read.

I read Lonesome Dove a few years ago and it was incredible. Feel a little salty that it’s a “cool girl” read right now, but it’s really amazing. I feel like I should get more into westerns.

Another western worth trying is All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy (modern classic).

And yes, texting is so much work!!

SECONDING True Grit! I read it this year and was blown away. I cannot believe I hadn't read it sooner.

Wow! This is on my list of classics to read and I guess I'll move it to the front of the queue!

Dropping my recommendation for a classic to reread—The Outsiders :) one of my favorites

Ooh, I haven’t read it! Thanks for the rec!

Book recommendation: In Praise of Shadows, Tanizki. It’s just a few years off being 100 years old so you can grab a second hand copy for peanuts.

I’ve never heard of it! I’ll check it out!

Yeah, culturally, food gifts are my love language. My direct reports got cookies, mini loaf cakes, and locally roasted coffee beans. My co-workers were gifted chocolate-dipped treats, and my local friends, some combo of those. I am exhausted, but it's so satisfying to see how happy they make people.

Exhausted but satisfying is exactly right, haha (she says after baking 3 dozen more cookies for her family)

White Elephant/Secret Santa gifting? 👎

My very special friend and I are expected to arrive at a solstice dinner tomorrow with gifts for an exchange. She told me of a craft bazaar at church and I said that I would buy if she wanted to shop for both of our gifts. A typically “man” thing to do, I know. But it just seemed more thoughtful to get both of our offerings from someone just trying to make a buck with handcrafted goods. I figure that is a win for all sides.
