Hello! Welcome to The Purse!
The Purse is a newsletter about money and motherhood and work and relationships and all the big and little things that make our world go round. It’s written by Lindsey Stanberry, founding editor of Refinery29 Money Diaries. Subscribe to get full access to the newsletter and publication archives.
What to expect
The Purse is published weekly on Wednesdays. It features three regular franchises: Home Economics, Division of Labor, and In Her Purse. And once a month, Lindsey waxes poetic on a topic related to women and money.
Submit your Home Economics entry here.
Free subscribers get access to all new posts and the 2024 archive. Paid subscribers get access to the entire archive dating back to June 2023 (I was writing for a much smaller audience back then, so I was a little, ahem, looser with what I wrote about. Founding members get my undying gratitude (and if you’re in NYC, I’ll take you out for a coffee).
You can also follow The Purse on Instagram.
Who is Lindsey
I’ve been writing about women and money for a decade. I was the founding editor of Refinery29 Money Diaries, and I wrote the book and hosted the podcast. I’ve held leadership roles at Refinery29, CNBC, and Fortune, where I worked with amazing teams of reporters who primarily wrote about personal finance and careers. Last year, I decided to throw caution to the wind and quit my full-time job to launch this newsletter. I’m also studying to become a certified financial planner.
I live in Brooklyn with my cute kid and my husband, Ken, who edits all these newsletters. If you find a typo or errant comma though, it’s because I added something after his final review.
Join the crew
The Purse isn’t just a newsletter but an amazing community of 7,000 and growing. I love when people participate in the comments section (with kindness!) and send me emails in response to the newsletter. I try to reply to all of them!
I also so deeply appreciate every paying subscriber! Your support allows me to reinvest in The Purse, so we can tell even more stories about women and money.
